I mentioned at the Beginners SIG that I wished there was a way to identify a font from a sample.

Well, there is!

It showed up in today's makeuseof email.

You go to the website and upload a picture of a sample of the font and it ocr's it.  Then, it shows you characters that it recognized and lets you correct it.
Next, it suggests a number of fonts it might be and will even take you to a page where you can buy the font if you want to.

I gave it my business card font which is a completely connected script.  It was only able to recognize two letters at all and both of them needed to be corrected.
But, even with that little data it suggested 11 fonts that were somewhat close, two of which were almost spot-on!

I'm impressed!
