I just wanted to let everyone know that in addition to wrapping up our exploration of the GIMP raster graphics editor, and beginning our survey of the Inkscape vector graphics editor, we will be taking a look at a very different working environment from the usual and familiar GNOME and KDE.  Fluxbox is quite minimal, lightweight, and fast, BUT it is also quite elegant and functional.  I can see many reasons, including performance and stability, for someone to have Fluxbox on their computer in addition to one of those far larger DEs.

Need to get the best performance out of your computer running the digital audio workstation Ardour for your next big Internet smash-hit?  No problem, don't log into GNOME with all the stuff that's going on in the foreground and even worse, the background...just log into Flux and run at the full speed of your hardware.

See my other posting on July's Beginners SIG for more info...
