There is nothing more frustrating sometimes, like when you can't connect to the Internet.
Many things can cause failed connections, like even a Virus. There's a DHCP disabling virus,
a Firewall blocking virus, LAN Settings manipulation virus, and the list goes on and on.

Assuming you have a good Anti-Virus program installed along with perhaps a secondary Malware detection program like MalwareBytes, you can minimize or eliminate these types of viruses. If your Internet Settings have been mysteriously changed, there are some excellent resources that will help you get your connection back in a jiffy.

First, right-click on your Network Icon in the system tray. Then click "Troubleshoot problems". If this does not locate an issue, and you are connected via a cable to your router, disconnect the cable from router and plug into cable modem or other ISP device directly. Go back to system tray "Troubleshoot problems".  If this still does not fix your issue, see below.

First, Download "Complete Internet Repair" and "Tweaking.com - Windows Repair"
* They're both FREE *
Install and run one tool at a time, and troubleshoot using the program.

Finally, check with your Internet Service Provider(ISP) website for connection issue troubleshooting.
