If you are using Firefox as a browser, you should know that Microsoft injected a net framework assistant into firefox as an add-on.  It cannot be deleted without going to Microsoft's website and downloading a patch which will allow its removal.  Go to Microsoft knowledge base and find KB963707.  It explains how to download and add patch.

Mozilla is now blocking the Net Framework Patch because of a security problem. Firefox brings up a popup which asks you if you want the patch disabled.
